On day 8 of our Sri Lanka Tourism blogger tour program we were taken to the Pedro Estate Tea Plantation. The location is situated about 3.5 KM east of Nuwara Eliya and it's accessible by car. The beautiful green landscapes, blue skyes and waterfalls really makes the experience worth your while. Guided tours can be done from 7 a.m - 12:30 p.m and from 2 p.m - 4 p.m. At the Pedro Estate tea factory we were shown the full process of tea production. From plukking the actual tea leafs ourselves in the plantation to see how it's manufactured, then graded and packed.

We were taken on a 40 minute plantation and factory tour. Pedro Estate was originally built in 1855, and there is still signs of the history. The landscape offers a calming and beautiful view. If you are lucky like us you will have one of the pluckers to show you how you are suppose to pluck the Tea leafs. It's not as simple as it looks like and require some technique.

Experience where your morning cup of tea originates

Once inside the facotry your senses of smell goes bananas. It smells really good, almost like Ice tea smells in the store. There is a lot of noise going on, but it's a very interesting sight to witness the different machines that have been specifically designed for Pedro Tea Estate.

Once you have been taken through the entire factory you can expect to be given the chance to do some tea tasting. This is a really fun experience that requires you to really taste and learn the lingua for Tea. It's really cool to be taken from start to finish.
